WARNING: There is a graphic photo of my incision at the end of this post.
Hi y'all! Thanks to everyone who has been checking in on us, it's much appreciated. :) Here is an update on my post surgery. I had it done Friday morning and was home early afternoon. I was feeling great until the numbing medicine wore off. The left foot was wrapped too tight so we cut that and re wrapped it which resulted in immediate relief. But then the pain just kept escalating in my left foot. They upped my pain med strength and that just made me vomit everywhere....multiple times. Mistake number one. So I quite taking those all together. Mistake number two. Letting the pain get out of control was a big no-no apparently. So this morning I tried to walk to the living room and I literally couldn't put pressure on my left foot. So we called the nurse again and she said it could be infected so we were told to go to the emergency room. Thankfully the ER here is the same place where my doctor is so they were all integrated and processed us through quickly. The doctor came in am unwrapped my foot and said there was no infection and that my pain is just a part of the healing process. Anytime bone is involved there is a lot more pain and the time is longer. My podiatrist told me I would be up and walking within 2 or 3 days and would just be a little sore. LOL He definitely plays the pain aspect down. So anyway, we are home now and after two painkiller shots in my bum and some anti-nausea medicine I am feeling much better! I just hope and pray that the rest of this process goes quickly and smoothly.
I will say that I am so glad I chose to do both at once because I don't think I ever would have gone back to do the other one if I hadn't. This whole experience certainly has humbled me in the aspect that being able to walk and do things for myself is a gift and instead of getting annoyed at times when I have to go downstairs to do the laundry or vacuum the stairs or anything that involves walking period, I will be thanking God for my health and the ability to be independent.

The yellow stuff would be iodine on my foot and toes.....it certainly is swollen! The doctor kept commenting how good the incision looks though.

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement, Kate! If anyone knows about having strength, it is you. I hope your feet heal quickly. Little Cannon is growing up so fast and adorable as always! I think of you and your family a lot. Hope all is well :)
