Seeing is believing but what does one believe they see? As human beings we have been given a brain and the way we use that brain is up to us. So what we choose to see in life can often times be referred to as faith. So yes, seeing can be believing and if you choose to have faith then you choose to see what is unseen in this life.
It's interesting how many times in my daily life the things I hear and the situations I encounter overlap. At church this past weekend the sermon was about being content in our lives and appreciating and focusing on the blessings that we do have. I went home with this heavy on my heart because of how closely this thought relates to my life right now. So many times I would find myself looking at others and thinking 'wow, they really have it all' when in fact behind closed doors they are living a broken life filled with pain, anger, and frustration and yet they continue to uphold the picture of perfection. It seems (to me) that today our worry and focus is about working for an income, getting the big house with a yard and having the parties and decor that are top notch etc, etc, etc.
Yes, some of those things are important in this life for basic survival but what are we teaching our children? Not being exposed to the word of God and given the opportunity to believe even if their parents don't just breaks my heart. I can't help but think about the insignificance the material things really have in this short life. Galatians 5:13-26 is a good reminder (for me) of how short and insignificant this life is but what a huge impact our actions here and now will have on our true and eternal life.
Instead of embracing the amazing life that God has so graciously blessed us with which is filled with joy, laughter, good health, a roof over our heads, clothes on our back, food on our table and even things that aren't necessities, I was actually cluttering my head with thoughts of jealously instead of graciousness.
Life really does happen in a blink and I don't want to miss the opportunity to fulfill the purpose that He has placed me here for. The songs Blink by Revive and Legacy by Nichole Nordeman really say it all. As you may have noticed it is the first songs that plays when visiting my page.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
